Exportspark is proud to have delivered a webinar on Incoterms® for Export Navigator on the importance of making sure exporters shipping products internationally are fully aware of the risks and potential costs from using these terms in contracts.

In this new age of international trade, it is critical to review shipping contracts and determine which Incoterm is being used. Many terms place the responsibility for paying tariffs on the US Buyer, for example, but there are scenarios where Canadian businesses could incur higher costs when shipping to the US or even being responsible for paying tariffs on behalf of the US client. All based on a short, 6 word clause in the contract.

Exportspark offers courses on Incoterms® that can be modified to specific sectors and products, for delivery to anyone in a company focused on exporting and logistics or through associations, economic development agencies and trade facilitation organizations to their members or clients.

The webinar was very well attended with a great cross section of BC companies from different sectors. Export Navigator offers export advisory services and access to technical specialists to help review new markets or determine potential risk from selling to the US. Be sure to engage with Export Navigator to explore these services!
